Our non-governmental organization founded in 2004, and is able to represent interests of its members in difficult situations. Such an experience we already have. Today we know that in Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) live about one thousand people, represantatives of the MID family. Closest holders of our surname outside of the KBR are situated in a village Pervomajskoe, Karachay-Cherkessia, near the town of Kislovodsk (former village Abukovo – Abykue hable). A lot of carriers of the family name MID lives in Nizhny Novgorod and the Stovskij district of Nizhny Novgorod region (Russia): in village Serkovo and village Baturov. We know MIDs, who live in Yaroslavl and Moscow. The largest number of our relatives abroad reside in Turkey. They have surnames as MID, MIT, MIDAZ and associate themselves with the people of Abaza. We maintain contact with them. There is information that the name MID met in Bulgaria. Very close relatives to us live in San-Francisco (USA), Stockholm (Sweden).
Many historical records confirm the Abaza origin of our family. Apparently, we, MIDs in KBR – Circassians (Kabardians) – who have also the Abaza origin. Surname of our family in Kabardian sounds as MYD. Russian transliteration of it – MID, and the common Russian form of writing it is MIDOV (MIDOVA for a woman). Our ancestors have claimed that all the holders of surnmae MIDOV(MYD), residing in the KBR have a common origin.
